My audio sounds distorted or the tempo is acting strange.

You may have a device that needs a bit more headroom. Open Flip Sampler, go to the Options page (gear icon), increase the buffer size, then close the app and restart it.
If this does not help already, disable “Low Latency mode” in the Options screen. This uses the traditional audio drivers that have more latency, but are better supported by phone manufacturers.

Mic recording isn’t working.

Check that you allowed microphone permissions for Flip and that you have the most recent version of the app. Some phone manufacturers choose not to implement google’s low latency audio API correctly (e.g. Samsung S10+). To fix this you can disable “Low Latency mode” in the Options screen. This uses the traditional audio drivers that have more latency, but are better supported by phone manufacturers.

Does the recording look really glitchy? Do you have Bixby enabled or any other voice assistant? Then please disable it! Bixby Voice -> Voice Settings -> disable Speech activation. Then restart Flip and give it another try. This seems to be a bug in Android, that “always-on” assistants will hog the mic and not give it to other apps.

When does the sample store come to Android?

The sample store is being phased out of Flip, but many of the samples that were available in those packs will be added for free to the stock library in a future update.

Which Android devices do you recommend for Flip?

Flip can play up to 144 samples at a time, so it needs quite a lot of processing power. You’ll have the most fun with a strong modern device running Android 10 and above. We tested with many devices from different brands, and generally recommend brands like Google and Samsung, but unfortunately cannot guarantee Flip will work on every device. There are simply too many, and currently we support over 8,000! If Flip doesn’t work on your device, you can get a refund through the Play Store within 14 days.
